Materials for Leche Flan:
- Leche flan tins
- Steamer
- Pan for making sugar if you don’t have a gas stove
- Mixing bowl
- Fine mesh strainer
Main Ingredients:
- 10 egg yolks
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 can condensed milk
- White Sugar
Optional Ingredients:
Vanilla (extract)
Goal for Leche Flan:
Texture: Soft and creamy flan.
Color: Caramel brown top with soft yellow body.
Guide for Leche Flan:
- Get your steamer started.
- If you have a gas stove, pour about a cup of sugar in the leche flan tin and start making the caramel by cooking the sugar straight on the fire. Moving around as it melts and turns to caramel.
- If you have an electric stove it is easier to make the caramel in a separate pan and cook until it is very mobile but not burnt. Then pour into leche flan tin and move around to coat the bottom.
- Mix together egg yolks, condensed milk, and evaporated milk and pour into leche flan tin with caramel.
- Steam for about 30 minutes.
- Cool until able to touch. Place a plate on top of leche flan tin upside and flip flan over onto the plate.
- Serve and enjoy!
